Alexus has been dancing since the age of three studying ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, hip hop, improvisation, tap, and acro at Kathy Marfin’s dance school in San Antonio, Texas. Alexus danced competitively for seven years with the Leading Edge Dance Company. She attended many dance conventions over the years, such as, Jump, The Streetz, Celebrity, Tremaine, and summer intensives with Dallas Black Dance Theater to further her growth. These conventions presented her with the opportunity to take classes from Mia Micheals, Kathryn McCormick, Melanie Moore, Tony Bellissimo, Jackie Nowicki, and other renowned dancers. Alexus has taught at multiple studios in the San Antonio area teaching jazz, contemporary, acro and modern.
Alexus received her BFA with a focus in performance and choreography from Texas State University. During her time at Texas State she has been in numerous student and professor works that have been presented in San Marcos, Texas. At the end of Alexus’ freshman year in college she was awarded the “Outstanding Freshman Award”. Alexus was a member of Merge Dance Company for three years and has learned from highly qualified choreographers such as Rosely Cortez, Erica Gionfriddo, Bernard Brown, Christa Oliver, Ana Baer, Torens Johnson, Francisco Graciano and more.
Most recently, Alexus’ choreography was selected to be performed in the American College Dance Association Gala in 2022 and 2023. Alexus intends to dance professionally as long as her body allows. She will be performing with Blue Lapis Light this fall in their new work “Belonging II”. Alexus has found a deep love for teaching and choreography. She can not wait to share all she has learned with the PAD students!!!
